USDA Invests $68 Million in 540 Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Projects Nationwide

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced in September that USDA is investing in 540 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects nationwide, including 14 small wind projects.

NREL Announces Two New Competitiveness Improvement Project Awards

In July, DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory announced two new Competitiveness Improvement Project (CIP) awards. Northern Power Systems of Barre, VT, and Urban Green Energy of New York, NY will receive a portion of the $1.27 million allocated to the CIP in support of the DOE’s Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative.

FREE Solar TA for Local Governments from Solar OPs

Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative, the Solar Outreach Partnership (SolarOPs) is a collaborative national effort focused on working directly with communities to dramatically reduce the cost and expand the adoption of solar energy by 2020. First Student Conference for Developing the Future Power Engineering Workforce

An expected 40 students and faculty from universities across the country will participate in a first annual, one day student-centered conference April 28 on developing the power engineering workforce of the future. The first annual conference is a project of the U.S. Department of Energy’s new program: Grid Engineering for Accelerated Renewable Energy Development (GEARED).
