IREC ISPQ Standard 01022: 2011

The IREC ISPQ Standard 01022: 2011 was developed in the mid-1990′s by a team of passionate individuals involved in renewable energy. In July 2005, IREC became the North American Licensee for the IREC ISPQ Standard and formed the IREC ISPQ Accreditation and Certification Program, managing all aspects of the accreditation and certification designations from application to assessment, award and maintenance of the award. In 2011, IREC purchased the ISPQ Standard, and continues to license it to the international community.

solarstreetlightThis International Standard specifies requirements for competency, quality systems, resources, and qualification of a curriculum against which trainers and training programs can be evaluated. Highlights of the requirements include:

  • The program shall be designed to prepare individuals with knowledge and skills required for a professional trade with the curriculum content following an approved task analysis;
  • Facilities shall be sufficient and safe for the training;
  • The organization has appropriate financial resources and that administrative and management procedures and policies are in practice; and Written policies shall ensure the competence, impartiality, and integrity of the program;
  • Online courses will follow standards for sufficient interaction with instructor.

Through the application and assessment process, the IREC ISPQ framework offers evaluation for achieving the following designations:

  1. Accreditation for Training Programs
  2. Accreditation for Continuing Education Providers
  3. Certification for Independent Master Trainers
  4. Certification for Affiliated Master Trainers
  5. Certification for Affiliated Instructors
  6. Certification for Independent Instructors
