Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative, the Solar Outreach Partnership (SolarOPs) is a collaborative national effort focused on working directly with communities to dramatically reduce the cost and expand the adoption of solar energy by 2020. IREC, along with ICLEI, Meister Consultants, The Solar Foundation, the North Carolina Solar Center and the Solar Electric Power Association, are the partners delivering Solar OPs resources and services.
Solar OPs offers a number of tailored services for local governments, including:
- Free technical assistance provided directly to local government and stakeholders by subject matter experts to accelerate the implementation of local solar policy initiatives
- Training events and workshops for local government officials and staff on strategies to design and implement a policy framework that leverages industry best practices to meet local solar market goals
- Peer exchanges to strengthen networks of local governments by providing a forum to discuss local challenges and successes
- Research reports and articles on relevant solar policy topics including how-to guides, factsheets, and case studies.
